It’s only natural that Australia’s most haunted hotel – The Eastern Station Hotel – should be celebrating Friday the 13th. And, they are doing it in style! Pop on over to the revamped pub, for a heady dose of vampires and glam.
Nellie Minnelli from Theatre Burlesque will be there with her misbehaving minions.
In the mid-90s, the then love of my life walked out on me for a toothless Frenchman. I was full of indignant angst… and, yes, some awful poetry may have escaped from my pen.
At my lowest, and most pathetically poetic, I was lucky enough to stumble on what has now become one of my favourite flicks: Jon Favreau’s “Swingers” a 1996 comedy-drama about the lives of single, unemployed actors living on the ‘eastside’ of Hollywood, California during the 1990s swing revival. It was during this movie that I fell in love with the Swing Jazz scene, and started my hunt for my own personal Heather Graham. This is an evening of expertly crafted food, premium beers and some giggles. Peter Mitcham from ‘Beer Blokes’ will guide you through a bunch of beery gems, giving you hints and tips along the way to appreciate your golden drop.
BTLamont Entertainment is bringing us Ballafornians some darn fine comedians, every month, and right in the heart of Ballafornia. Turning what would normally be a big-city, long car/train trip, late-night thing into an accessible and affordable night out.
Just over a year ago, my partner, toddler, dog, chooks and I decided to leave the spiralling house prices of Melbourne for the tree-lined financial Nirvana of regional Victoria.
Every weekend we drove through many quaint and ute-riddled towns. None of which quite ticked all the ‘happy home’ boxes. That was until one fateful day, when we brought our big city hunger and thirst to the gold rush city of Ballarat; the town in which we discovered our own nugget of tasty gold… The Mallow.
