Those who know me, know that I like a beer and/or cider or two. Not the chemical-ladened muck that the unnamed big brewers saturate the market with. No, I loves me a finely crafted beer. A beer with flavour, A beer with a story. A beer conjured from the joyful wizardry of men and women who have a true passion for their craft.
Fortunately there is a very healthy and burgeoning under-beer-belly of craft brewers emerging in this fine land, and I’m proud to say that Ballarat is fast becoming a Mecca for this frothy movement.
At the City Oval on Saturday 18 January 2014, thousands will converge for the third time, to imbibe bubbly wonders from all over Australia. Not only for scores of delicious beers and ciders on offer, but also for hours of music and entertainment. So far one of my favourite live bands, Wagons, and the seven piece Sydney-siders Little Bastard have signed up. I can only hope that the hirsute lords of hairy rock, The Beards, will return triumphantly from last year’s aural conquest.
Early-bird tickets for the 3rd Ballarat Beer Festival are on sale now.
