Lark Ballarat Store Opening

Posted by | MEET, SEE & DO | No Comments

One of Australia’s independent design store success stories Lark, is opening its doors at 30 Armstrong Street North in Ballarat on Friday 14th November, amazingly just in time for Christmas.

Lark was founded in Daylesford in 2006 by UK expat Allison Jones and her Bendigo-born husband Paul Matthews. Opening in sunny Ballarafornia has been on the agenda since the family moved into town two years ago with their young sons. Allison says “we love living in Ballarat, it is a great place to bring up a family. We’ve been interested in moving our store to Ballarat for some time now, and we believe Armstrong Street Is a great location, near to the many other new shops and cafés that are starting to pop up in town”.

So, the clock is ticking down to the end of a funny old year. My beloved day job has become my day, evening and weekend job, but I’ve still managed to create the little splash of fun known as

Fear not. next year I’ll have more interviews with fabulous local folk, and many, many other surprises.

However, now it’s time to relax and celebrate the triumphs, learn from the mistakes, and grab the future by the horns, because we are riding that cruelty-free, hypothetical bull to the future my friends!

Hope to see you all there.

Roller Derby bashing into Ararat

Posted by | SEE & DO | No Comments

Roller Derby
BallaFornia’s own Rat Pack will soon be singing a song of victory when they bring the first roller derby game to the Wimmera.

The Ararat Council recently asked the Ballarat Roller Derby League  to dip their wheeled toes into the rural city’s waters to test our country cousin’s Derby-lust.

The Rat Pack were more than happy to oblige, and, in partnership with the Council and the Grampians YMCA, they are inviting the Wimmera community to go and see what Australia’s fastest growing sport is all about.
